Starting with hydraulic fracturing and drilling operations improvements, it has spread to almost all parts of E&P and become even more important for reserves estimation and field development. Still, some geomechanics related issues have always been on the margins of the industry. Geomechanics is playing and will play in the future fundamental role in maintaining and increasing existing hydrocarbons production. The first SPE Workshop on geomechanics took place in Russia in 2017. The workshop gathered key experts from both operating and service companies. This year workshop will cover fundamental studies, core studies, including a digital core; we will pay attention to new trends in geomechanical modelling; geomechanics application in E&P: from reservoir characterization to field development, oil recovery improvement, drilling and completion.
