Memo

Learn more about core studies, including a digital core; geomechanical modelling; geomechanics application in reservoir characterization, field development, oil recovery improvement, etc. Although the application of geomechanics in the oil and gas industry is relatively new, it has become a fast-growing area. Starting with hydraulic fracturing and drilling operations improvements, it has spread to almost all parts of E&P and become even more important for reserves estimation and field development. Still, some geomechanics related issues have always been on the margins of the industry. Geomechanics is playing and will play in the future fundamental role in maintaining and increasing existing hydrocarbons production. The first SPE Workshop on geomechanics took place in Russia in 2017. The workshop gathered key experts from both operating and service companies. This year workshop will cover fundamental studies, core studies, including a digital core; we will pay attention to new trends in geomechanical modelling; geomechanics application in E&P: from reservoir characterization to field development, oil recovery improvement, drilling and completion. Technical Sessions:- 1. Core Analysis in Geomechanics:- Laboratory studies for geomechanical processes modelling.- Digital core – advantages and limitations, case studies for geomechanics. 2. New Trends in Geomechanical Modelling:- Routine automation: pilot projects, best practices.- Failure criterion selection and ways to minimize computation uncertainties.- Workflow adaptation to model hole stability under complex geology, etc. 3. Fundamental Studies:- A coupled solution of poroelastic task and filtration.- Correlation of different-scale researches: issues and best practices.- Downscaling.- Fracture models, etc. 4. Geomechanics for Development, Drilling and Completion. Adjustment and Verification of Geomechanical Modeling Results:- Deep perforation tunnel application in carbonate and terrigenous reservoirs.- Refrac: case studies and new technologies.- Waterflood Induced Fractures.- 3D simulator for hydraulic fractures modelling: the case study, etc. Deadlines:Submit your topic before 5 February 2019.Register before 19 February 2019.
