Memo

Participation in Sport can help to promote positive mental health; however, the impact of COVID-19 has reduced access and opportunities at grassroots level. Elite athletes have faced unique challenges throughout the pandemic, taking part in competition whilst living in isolation and facing increased online harassment. Join Westminster Insight's Mental Health in Sport Digital Conference to explore how to build inclusive and supportive sports communities for athletes at all levels, that promote positive mental wellbeing and improve quality of life. You will hear from Clarke Carlisle, a former profession footballer and current Mind Ambassador on the impact of working in a high-pressured environment, public scrutiny and risk of injury. Hear from sporting professionals at both grassroots and elite level, allowing you to regain momentum to reduce stigma and normalise conversations about mental health and embed effective mental health support strategies and a clear wellbeing message. Building resilience and creating an identity outside of the profession, Michael Salla will share how to help athletes through transitions. You will also hear how with physical activity, exercise and community sport can help support people to make better lifestyle choices.
