Memo

In November this year, the ACC, Liverpool will open its doors once again for the Healthcare Infection Society International conference and a gathering of international of healthcare professionals working within infection.

The event starts on Monday 26 November and a packed four-stream schedule features renowned speakers who will discuss the latest in infection control research and practice, new diagnostics, emerging infectious diseases and new therapeutics. Some of the world's leading experts will be in attendance to impart their knowledge and share what they're doing to tackle current issues relating to infection prevention and control.

The Programme has been awarded 18 CPD Credits by the Royal College of Pathologists.

Commencing proceedings will be Professor Susan Huang from the University of California, Irvine, who is delivering the eponymous Lowbury Lecture on "Decolonisation to reduce multi drug-resistant organisms in healthcare: who, what, where, when, and why?". In addition to the popular eponymous lectures, there will be four parallel streams which feature a wide variety of topics.

Abstract submissions are welcome until 6 July and entries are encouraged on a huge range of topics to include: antimicrobial stewardship, clinical cases, surveillance and epidemiology, antimicrobials and antimicrobial resistance, clinical microbiology, and much more.

By facilitating the sharing of research, HIS 2018 will allow delegates to learn about the latest developments within this rapidly expanding and changing field. HIS understands it is increasingly more difficult to find funding to attend conferences and makes a number special bursaries available. The closing date for bursary applications is 17 August. We would strongly encourage all of those who are eligible to apply.

HIS hopes that you will be able to join them in Liverpool later this year for what promises to be the infection prevention event of 2018.
