Join us for a cocktail reception and exclusive preview of James Holdworth's works held on Monday 14th May.

Holdsworth's paintings are a mixture of humour, horror and harmony: each featuring a different popular character as a protagonist surrounded by a deep, murky and unevaluated background. Iconographic images are here the presentation of a dream world where access to "happiness" appears to be part of an ordinary life.

To realise this complex urban background Holdsworth selects special wallpapers, articles collected from recycled newspapers and posters from cities he visits, including Los Angeles, New York, Paris, London. He also uses archive paper taken from old tour posters; the otherworldliness of rock and roll and Hollywood are seen from an artist’s perspective.

Holdsworth's upcoming exhibition, about the iconic, infamous Chelsea Hotel NYC, will be displayed in our in-house restaurant, Wild Heart Bar and Grill, from 14th May through to 3rd July.
